Mami Mizutani grew up in Osaka, Japan amongst a family where the tradition of soapmaking was practiced for generations. While growing up, Mami was immersed in the Japanese secrets of beauty by watching her mother and grandmother. They often were known to share their beauty treatments with friends and family - made by blending simple, natural ingredients, and included both hair and skin products.

In Japan, soap isn's just a means of personal hygiene and cleaning, it is also a beauty secret. Soapmaking supports a long tradition and culture of beauty, luxury, and personal care.

Mami's grandmother taught her a simple way to maintain healthy hair and skin, and she strives to share these beauty secrets through her own products.

She honours simple, all-natural skincare, and her products will always be:

• plant-based

• palm oil-free

• cruelty-free

As well, they will always be free from over a thousand toxic ingredients that can penetrate the skin, including artificial fragrances, perfumes, preservatives, parabens, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, triclosan, alcohol, dyes, among many others.

More recently Mami was living in Vancouver, British Columbia, when she stopped at a garage sale that would forever shape her future. She purchased a soap making kit and soon found herself following in grandmother's footsteps. She kept with her heritage by using the time-honoured Japanese ingredients she grew up with.

Shortly thereafter Mami started Beauty Secrets of Japan.
